| 74 South Road is a 2000 square-foot remodel and addition to an existing lakeside camp on Lake Champlain in North Ferrisburg, Vermont, a haven for peace and tranquility in the summer months and for future retirement years by the owner. The cottage was remodeled on the first floor and a second floor was added to allow for a more comfortable and spacious place for family gathering. A love for the countryside, mountains, and lake bring all the growing extended family here in the summer months which dictated a need for more space, a more open plan, and efficiency in planning. The living room, dining room, and kitchen were all enlarged and one bedroom located downstairs. Upstairs are three bedrooms, a bath, a covered porch for sunset views, and also a large room at the stair landing to serve as a second living area with a daybed for extra guests. The exterior design is a reflection of the local vernacular architecture as reflected in the use of exterior materials, window design, and scale relative to the surrounding lake cottages. |
